Born in Tokyo in 1943. Professor Emeritus of the University of Tokyo, Specially invited researcher at the University Museum. He is a member of the Japanese Society of Plant Taxonomy and the International Society of Plant Taxonomy, a Fellow of the Linne Society (London), and a Chairman of the Japan Botanical Friendship Society (since 2010). He has edited and published "Plant Classification Table" (2009), "Flower Man Siebold" (2001), "Siebold Flora Japonica" (2007) and many others.
